A few years ago, I had a hypothesis that heating the house at night was a waste of time and energy and seemed like a poor design. I seemed to sleep better when not heating the air, so I piled all the blankets I could find to stay warm. What didn’t make sense is, I could never feel warm until I tried natural organic fibers like kapok and wool. I did not find the scientific reason for this until I finally turned up the article ‘Naked Beneath Your Clothing’ by John Veltheim. In summary, the synthetic fibers interrupt the body’s electrical system or ‘wei chi’ in Chinese Medicine, which alters comfort, cellular respiration, and temperature regulation.
EXERPT from Naked Beneath Your Clothing
Many interesting experiments have been done on the effect that clothing has on chi flow within the body. During the authors’ years as Principal of the Brisbane College of Traditional Acupuncture and Natural Therapies in Australia, many experiments were conducted using highly sensitive equipment that could monitor and measure the flow of chi along the meridians. An acupuncture needle could be inserted into an acupuncture point to demonstrate the affect it has on the energy levels in other parts of the body along where that meridian flowed. For example, a needle inserted just below the knee at a point called stomach 36, would demonstrate an increased flow of energy along the whole stomach meridian running up the leg, through the stomach, up into the chest, and up to the eyes. Stimulating the needle can effectively help to balance, and heal, a stomach disorder (such as a stomach ulcer), or perhaps increase the energy flow to the eyes and improve vision.
Some interesting experiments demonstrated the following:
- When a patient was naked and had the needle stimulated, there was a measurable flow of energy – we’ll call it 100 units.
- If that person then wore nylon underpants while this experiment was being done, and the needle was being stimulated, the effective end result of the flow was a reduction of energy flow of up to 60%.
- Repetitive experiments demonstrated that if a patient wore nylon underwear while receiving acupuncture treatments, that patient would need twice as many treatments to get the same results. Cotton underwear reduced the flow by 20%.
The Body as an Electrical Field
The surface of the skin is an electrical field that is constantly interacting with our environment and our inner body systems. The nervous system is another set of electrical circuits. The two combine to create varying electrical potentials that can easily be measured. This electrical potential is altered by the influence of different types of clothing. Synthetic clothing builds up a static charge on the body so that when a piece of metal is touched, the person gets a shock. Practitioners who work with bioenergetic therapy have found the static has detrimental effects on the body’s electrical network which, in turn, affects health.

Moving Outdoors
The Birth of Lucky Sheep Wool Sleeping Bag
This discovery led to the first Lucky Sheep Wool Sleeping Bag prototype. I embarked on a journey, taking the sleeping bag and other natural fiber clothing and tents/tipi. My aim was to experiment with sleeping outdoors almost full time. I tested various environments, from meadows to deep forests, mountain streams, and water bodies. Pushing my experiment to its limits, I completely moved outside into a tipi with no heat, aiming to observe the effects of natural elements like the Schumann’s Resonance and the winter cold on my body.
The Paleo Diet and My Experience
I emerged triumphant. Surprisingly, my friends found it hard to believe. My journey defied the established paradigm that modern conveniences were not just vital for survival, but for comfort. What made my endeavor successful was the PALEO DIET, which empowered me to handle the cold and effectively generate heat. My experience challenges most conventional beliefs. I felt like I was living in an entirely different dimension, a reality founded on my diet. Those who haven’t adopted this diet will find it hard to relate to my journey. Not only did I survive, but I thrived!
Living Outside: My Daily Life
The results were undeniable. My sleep improved dramatically. The moment I lay down, I would relax instantly. I felt connected to the Schumann’s Field, and it was as though I was “drinking” the air. The outside cold never bothered me, even when the temperature inches from my skin dropped below freezing. I remained alert, active, and engaged, both mentally and socially. From a biological standpoint, I realized that modern heating wasn’t necessary. However, socially, it was challenging to maintain hygiene and appearance while balancing responsibilities between my outdoor and societal lives. Nonetheless, I resided in the tipi intermittently for three years, embracing the Paleolithic Philosophy to its extreme.
Physical Benefits
Living outdoors in the heart of winter was just the beginning. My daily life included walking or biking several miles to work and social events. Observing my counterparts, mostly my age or younger, they lived indoors and drove vehicles. To them, my lifestyle was alien. Whenever I shared my experience, they responded with disbelief and fear. Some even said, “it makes me cold just to think about it.” The underlying fear for many was that my theories might indeed be accurate. To get them to consider my perspective, I knew I had to prove my theories. Yet, even with evidence, many remained skeptical.
I developed a routine of greeting the sunrise and, several times a week, would dive into the icy river when the air temperature was above 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Far from feeling run down, I adapted to the cold. Not only did my hands stop feeling numb, but I also noticed other health improvements. My metabolic rate increased, my eyesight improved, and injuries healed faster.
The Results of My Experiment
Having used my body as a test subject for these theories, I am confident about their validity. I’ve since sought to replicate the results of my cold winter living experience in other settings.

Schumann’s Resonance: The Earth’s Natural Tuning Fork
Biological Attunement to the Planet’s Frequency
The Schumann Resonance acts as a natural tuning fork for our biological oscillators. Michael Hutchison, in his book “Mega Brain Power,” describes the 7.83 Hz frequency as one of the “window frequencies.” This frequency has wide-ranging beneficial effects on humans, from enhanced healing to accelerated learning. When a biological system vibrates at this frequency, it is in resonance with the planet’s own magnetic frequency. This is considered the “natural electromagnetic matrix for all life on this planet, the frequency in which all life forms evolved, and, until recent decades, the dominant electromagnetic frequency in which all life took place.”
Excerpts and Observations from Jack Kruse
How does the Earth’s electromagnetic field protect all life from EMF sources? The answer dates back to the Nobel Prize-winning physicist, Richard Feynman’s 1960s lectures on Earth’s subtle energy sources:
- The Earth’s surface has an abundance of electrons, giving it a negative electrical charge.
- A person standing outside on a sunny day has an electrical charge difference between the Earth and the top of their head, due to insulators like shoes or flooring.
- Historically, life evolved connected to Mother Earth, allowing our brains to perceive the third dimension of time.
- Taking off one’s shoes and making direct contact with the Earth allows the Earth’s magnetic field to transmit through our bodies. This protective EMF pushes the voltage above our heads, shielding us from environmental EMF sources, including UV light and cosmic radiation.
Modern Disconnection from the Earth’s Protective Shield
Until the arrival of modern man, all life had this protective shield. However:
- Exogenous EMFs that hit our bodies are cancelled out by electrons supplied by the Earth when we are grounded.
- Modern lifestyles have disconnected us from the Earth, impacting our ability to synchronize biological reactions essential for life, such as ATP formation in the mitochondria.
- This disconnection causes energy leaks at our inner mitochondrial membrane, resulting in ATP production failure in positively charged environments.
The role of energy is crucial for all life forms. Energy fuels every process that allows us to survive. A slow electron leak before death can cause diseases, and the inability to produce ATP results in death.
The Impact of Modern Life on Health
Few studies have addressed the effects of EMF. However, this lack of research is concerning due to:
- The global artificial EMF generation now being a trillion-dollar industry.
- Modern lifestyles impacting our ability to maintain our circadian rhythm.
- The negative impact of artificial light and man-made EMFs on health, particularly on our mitochondria and telomeres.
The Connection between Pineal Gland and Earth’s Magnetic Field
Changes in the Earth’s magnetic field affect our Pineal Gland, impacting hormone production. For example:
- Melatonin, a vital neurohormone and cancer-suppressing agent, is not produced without the Schumann Resonance in outer space.
- Melatonin production is also affected by electromagnetic pollution.
All these clinical observations suggest a deep link between obesity and other diseases to an inflammatory condition. This inflammation is due to a lack of energy production in our cell’s mitochondria, leading to a time contraction in the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the mammalian brain. Over time, this will cause illness and eventual death.
The Generative Power of Sleep
Excerpt from Ray Peat “Adaptive Substances”
A single night of poor sleep likely results in significant anatomical damage to the streaming cellular systems. However, these can be repaired over subsequent days provided there’s a combination of high energy metabolism and ample deep sleep. The key factors optimizing both energy and sleep form the foundation for promoting restorative processes. Contributing to the conservation of the organism’s energetic reserves are:
- Salt
- Glycine
- Carbon dioxide
- Progesterone
- Thyroid hormone
- Sugar
All these elements function by mitigating inappropriate excitation. Link to an article by Ray Peat about the generative power of sleep.
Questions about Grounding and Sleep
Plastic vs. Natural Sleeping Mattresses
The question arose after observing pictures displaying both typical plastic insulation mattresses and the wool version. If a plastic layer is placed between the individual and the earth, won’t it interrupt the positive grounding effects? Despite having a wool sleeping bag, the presence of such a mattress seems to disconnect one from the earth. Although there might be some connectivity through the air, the primary electricity seems to emanate from the ground. Is this akin to sleeping on a bed but with purer air?
The challenge with electrons is that they also transfer coldness from the ground. Hence, insulating against cold yet using natural fabric is essentially a weight issue because it necessitates multiple layers.
Grounding through Shoes
How does one ensure grounding through shoes? Is inserting a metal pin into the sole advisable? Or should one opt for an all-leather sole? There’s also the concern of whether grounding shoes in environments with high EMF, like cities, is harmful due to the absorption of even more EMFs.
Response to Grounding Queries
Choice of Sleeping Surface
For most situations, I prefer the natural wool pad. Only during backpacking do I opt for the synthetic insulated closed-cell foam pad due to its weight and moisture considerations. While it does insulate from the earth’s grounding effects, being within the Schumann’s Resonance seems adequate for grounding purposes. Additional factors enhancing grounding include:
- Negative ions from trees
- Mist, dew, fog, or mountain creek sprays
- The cold’s effect in minimizing the body’s electron leakage
Schumann Resonance is currently the most effective grounding source, shielding us from harmful EMFs, both man-made and solar.
Materials like wood and leather are mildly conductive. They are favorable for grounding because they don’t halt the electron flow like synthetic materials do.
Ground Condensation and Dirty Electricity
When grounding, it’s essential to be wary of condensation on bedding materials from moisture. Practical solutions include:
- Using a slatted wooden bedframe
- In wilder locations, creating a bed with piled leaves covered by a tarp, which could be synthetic or oil-clothed canvas for moisture protection
However, dirty electricity from man-made power grids is another concern. This can be gauged with a volt meter, with readings ideally being less than one Volt per Meter. Due to these EMF measurements, grounding into the earth might not always be the best choice. The suitability varies based on location and individual sensitivities. Some individuals, especially those sensitive to EMFs, might fare better with an insulated synthetic pad.
Shoes and Grounding
Grounding shoes may not be advisable due to the potential influx of dirty electricity. Walking barefoot occasionally is beneficial, but it’s crucial to rely on personal instincts given the incomplete information available and the various factors in play.
